At home | Fort Worth Documentary Family Photographer
This is a mega overshare. And I don’t really apologize. Mainly because I have come to really love this family over the years. And this session produced too many fun images not to share.
Last spring we did something new and shot a documentary session one evening. The goal was to capture some of their favorite evening routines that they do together on a regular basis.
Our time together started with a bike ride to their neighborhood park. We stayed a played, climbed trees and threw in a game of hide-and-seek. After a bit, we headed back to their house to cool off with a water balloon fight in the backyard. Which was so fun! When all the balloons were popped it was time for legos and then a bubble bath. The session wrapped up with ice cream, sprinkles and a bedtime story.
We covered a lot of ground in a couple hours. That is the beauty of documentary sessions. Not to mention that they are SO easy. These sessions have zero posing. Zilch. There is no stress to find perfectly coordinated outfits or the perfect location. For documentary sessions you can wear whatever and we can shoot whenever.
The absolute best part of documentary sessions is the type of images that you walk away with. You walk away with a huge gallery full of moments. Real moments. You know all those moments with your child when you are just going about your day and you think, “Man, my kid is so cute right now doing their normal thing. Wish I had my camera”. THOSE are the moments that we will capture. You will actually have those beautifully mundane moments on camera. And you won’t have to take the picture! Win- win!
